Built into the main stone gateway at the heart of the ancient city of York, this historic inn boasts beautiful, well-appointed modern accommodation and free parking.
In all of England, there can be few taverns blessed with such a superb
location. Built into the city wall at Bootham Bar, the Lion and Lamb is
right in the centre of this magnificent city, just a few minutes’ walk from
all of York’s main attractions, including York Minster.
Up the steep staircases of this Georgian property, there are 12 beautifully
decorated rooms. Some overlook the gardens and city walls; others look down onto busy High Petergate. At the top is the attic, a lovely hideaway where you can almost touch the medieval stone walls of the ancient fortifications.
Enjoy good home-cooked food and an ever-changing selection of real ales and premium continental lagers, together with a good wine and champagne list.
